As Assistant Principal at Sherburne-Earlville High School, it is a pleasure to spend my days with the future of our strong and vibrant community! Working together with our outstanding team of educators, I am focused on ensuring each student is moving towards their full potential. Some days this means addressing behavior, others it looks more like spearheading attendance initiatives and helping to build student morale. All of these tasks aim to support our mission of ensuring each student who enters our doors leaves their high school experience better prepared to positively contribute to society.
At the center of all student growth and school success lives strong, positive relationships. Whether it is through our Back to School Bash, Freshmen Orientation, or just the excellent teaching and learning happening in each classroom, SEHS is continually striving to be an organization where all students belong. As the year unfolds, we will continue to look for opportunities to build meaningful ties with students and families, all working together to ensure success.
Be on the lookout for improvements to the implementation of our attendance policy. Last year, S-E High School had nearly 25% of students classified as chronically absent. With attendance being one of the top three indicators of successfully earning a diploma, it is imperative that we get all of our learners to school, on time, every day. Using class competitions, individual prizes, and scaffolded supports, we are hoping to build an environment where students are able to attend on a regular basis.
I look forward to hearing from you about the successes and struggles you see happening at Sherburne-Earlville High School. My door is always open or you are welcome to contact me using email or by calling the office. This community is an excellent place to work, and I have no doubts that, together, we can continue to improve the lives of every child that walks through our doors.
Have an enjoyable and successful year!
