As Assistant Principal at Sherburne-Earlville High School, it is my pleasure to welcome you back to another meaningful year of learning! My position centers most around helping students. Working together with our outstanding team of educators, I spend my time ensuring each student is moving towards their full potential. Some days this means improving behavior, others it looks more like spearheading attendance initiatives and helping to build student morale. All of these tasks aim to support our mission of ensuring each student who enters our doors leaves their High School experience better prepared to positively contribute to society.
At the center of all student growth and school success lives strong, positive relationships. To kickoff this school year, we will be hosting a Back to School Bash for all MS/HS students and families on September 6th from 1pm-3pm. Freshmen Orientation will be on August 23rd at 6pm in the High School Auditorium. Both of these events are intended to strengthen relationships between school and home. As the year unfolds, we will continue to look for opportunities to build meaningful ties with students and families, all working together to ensure success.
Be on the lookout for improvements to the implementation of our attendance policy. Last year, S-E High School had nearly 25% of students classified as chronically absent. With attendance being one of the top three indicators of successfully earning a diploma, it is imperative that we get all of our learners to school, on time, every day. Using class competitions, individual prizes and scaffolded supports, we are hoping to build an environment where students are able to attend on a regular basis.
I look forward to hearing from you about the successes and struggles you see happening at Sherburne-Earlville High School. This community has been an excellent place to work so far, and I have no doubts that, together, we can continue to improve the lives of every child that walks through our doors.
Have an enjoyable and successful year!
