Todd-Rogers, O’Connor earn Scholar Recognition

Congratulations to SEHS Class of 2023 Valedictorian Grace Todd-Rogers and mentor Jena O’Connor, who were honored May 15 during the 2023 Business and Education Partnership Scholar Recognition ceremony at SUNY Oneonta!

Graduating students and teachers in the DCMO and ONC BOCES supervisory areas were recognized for excellence based on scholarship, leadership and school/community service. Each student scholar honoree nominates a mentor who has had a significant and beneficial influence on their education.

The daughter of Kathleen Todd and Justin Rogers of Earlville, Grace is dedicated to learning and intent on pursuing a post-secondary education in the field of Sustainable Design. She developed her quiet but effective leadership skills at the Teen Institute as a freshman and the Rotary Youth Leadership Conference as a junior. Grace is passionate about the environment and loves hiking, kayaking and dancing. She also volunteers to teach youths at her dance studio.

Grace selected SEHS ELA teacher Mrs. O’Connor for the mentor honor because, “it is the least I can do to show my appreciation and overall respect for her. Not only is she an amazing educator, she is also a patient and kind companion to all. She is honestly much more a friend than anything. Even though her coursework is usually difficult, no lesson with Mrs. O’Connor is ever boring. The side-track conversations in class are refreshing, and I feel as if I could talk to her about anything. I truly am grateful for her guidance and support.”
