District Mask Update

March 1, 2022

Dear SE Families,

I hope this message finds you well following the winter recess. We are aware that the governor will lift the mask mandate on Wednesday, March 2, 2022. Governor Hochul said that masking would be a parent's choice. While all area Superintendents have waited for a written document from Albany detailing responsibilities of schools moving forward regarding COVID protocols, it has not come.

Sherburne-Earlville CSD will be moving to optional mask wearing as of Wednesday, March 2, 2022As is included in our core beliefs, we will continue to treat others with compassion, kindness, and dignity. We will be supportive of students and staff who wish to continue masking.

According to Governor Hochul’s message, masks may be required at schools in counties with "high" community levels of COVID-19. It is important to remember that masks are only one tool within our reopening plan. Our school community has done an excellent job mitigating COVID factors throughout the school year. We will continue to update you as regulations regarding COVID-19 shift. We appreciate the sacrifices that staff, students, and families have made these last two years to care for one another.

Sincerely,
Robert G. Berson,
Superintendent of Schools
