Congratulations to Amon VanAlst, Emilee Bennett and Riley Jones for earning awards during the New York State FFA Convention in Buffalo this past weekend.

Amon received a State Star Award in Agribusiness for success in his sheep production business and joined Emilee as an Empire Degree recipient. The Empire Degree is the highest degree an FFA member can earn in New York.

Riley placed sixth in the state in the Maple CDE competition, which also featured Emilee, Austin Clark and Blaine Fleming.

S-E FFA members also competed in the Junior Quizbowl (Alivia Franklin, Kadyanne Kolb, Blayke Valentine, Autumn Miller); Senior Quizbowl (Amon VanAlst, Madison Murphy, Morgan Briggs, Ty Reihl); Junior Tool Identification (Maverick Brown, Marley Goedel); and Agricultural Education CDE (Emilee Bennett).

Students also had the opportunity to interact with various agricultural vendors in the expo center, winning prizes and learning about different careers and colleges related to the Ag industry. They got to go to a Buffalo Bisons’ baseball game, too.
