Robotics team qualifies for Worlds!

S-E VEX Robotics teams (3/2024)

Congratulations to Sherburne-Earlville’s “The Burninators” on qualifying for the VEX Robotics World Championship next month in Dallas!

Seniors Ryan Solloway, Brayden Smith, and Amon Van Alst – known as The Burninators 13460C – won the Skills competition March 9 at the Northern New York State VEX Robotics Competition Over-Under Championship. They scored 197 driver points and 158 programming points for a total of 355 – 24 more than the runner-up – to top the field of 56 teams at Queensbury High School.

The Burninators also went 6-0 in qualifying rounds to earn the No. 2 ranking, then teamed with the top-ranked Robo Hornets 53999P for back-to-back playoff victories before falling in the semifinals.

Three other S-E teams competed at the Northern New York State event. Womp Womp 13460D ranked 16th after going 4-2 in qualifying rounds and reached the quarterfinals. Absolute Aces 13460A also went 4-2 for the 23rd ranking and made it to the playoff round of 16. The Slightly Below Room Temperaturinators 13460B won two of six qualifying matches to finish in 39th place.

The VEX Robotics World Championship runs April 25-May 3 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas. More details are forthcoming.
