Important information for middle school families

Find out about a new way you can receive information from the middle school, and about the return of Coffee and Conversations!

Middle School Families,

With a new year comes uncharted opportunities to improve our communication. Middle school can be a strange time - students are transitioning from the adult-led environment of elementary school, but are not quite ready to take on the self-direction needed in high school. I remember parenting through the middle school years as a game of telephone; always trying to walk the line between what I needed to know, what information was making it home, and what my kiddos were able to navigate solo. In order to help bridge this gap, we have two new communication initiatives to share with you!

First, we now have the Remind App available for students and families. This app allows me to send a text message, image, or attachment out to families, and lets you respond back to me directly. Anyone with a cell phone that receives text messages, a device that can download the free app, or an email address can sign up for this. To receive messages through Remind, please follow the appropriate link below. Students and caregivers are all encouraged to join!

Second, we are bringing back Coffee and Conversations! School leaders will be hosting Coffee and Conversations before the first Board meeting of each month in room 230 at the Middle School, just inside the auditorium entrance. Stakeholders are welcome to come, enjoy a hot coffee, and engage in dialogue with us about the topics most important to our community. We look forward to visiting with you on February 7, March 7, April 4, and May 9. As always, we are available by phone or email if you have a pressing or private topic to discuss.

Take care,
Mrs. Jamie Maistros
