All three Sherburne-Earlville Robotics teams earned invitations to the VEX World Championships following competition at the 10th annual Northern New York State VEX High School Championships, which took place March 11 at The Oncenter in Syracuse.

SE Mecharauders 13460X (3/2023)The Burninators 13460C – Brayden Smith, Amon Van Alst, Ryan Solloway, robot Trogdor, and coach Wesley Macker – reached the March 11 state championship final to earn an automatic berth to the World Championships, scheduled for April 25-May 4 in Dallas, Texas.

The Burninators and alliance partner Revenge of the Titans 7157A fell, 2-1, in the state championship to the Robo Hornets 53999P of Harpursville and the Fire Breathing Marshmallows 8214C of Onondaga. World berths are awarded to all state finalists, regardless of championship results.

The SE Mecharauders 13460X – Jackson Barker, Aaron Romanowski, robot R2-D2, and coach Jonathan Ryan – also automatically qualified for the World Championships by winning the Northern NY Excellence Award at the middle-school level.

The Slightly Below Room Temperaturinators 13460Y – Braden Lewis, Avery Solloway, and robot Trogwindow – also competed at the middle-school level at the Northern NY championships and qualified for Worlds based on performance.
