Congratulations to our fourth-grade "superman," Marshall Sepello, honored Thursday by the New York State School Boards Association for his "Marshall Man" film and related fundraising efforts as a Wish Hero for Make-A-Wish Central New York.

NYSSBA Vice President Sandra Ruffo presented 9-year-old Marshall with a "Tomorrow's Leaders Today" certificate to commemorate his extraordinary leadership in raising money for peers through his "Marshall Man" film debut. Marshall wrote, directed and starred in the short superhero film, co-produced by Make-A-Wish CNY and American High.

In addition to setting an attendance record (1,700+) for a Make-A-Wish event at Syracuse's Landmark Theatre in April, Marshall more than doubled his goal of raising $10,000 on his Wish Hero donation page. You can still add to his total - currently at $22,508.05 - by donating at https://bit.ly/45BdhnC online.

Marshall is the first recipient of the "Tomorrow's Leaders Today" award, a new NYSSBA initiative designed to recognize inspirational students who have made a significant impact in their school districts and communities. Ruffo said four students will receive the prestigious award this quarter.

Way to go, Marshall!
