Internet Safety takes center stage

SEMS students raise hands during presentation (1/2020)

The Sherburne-Earlville Central School District thanks Alexa Benincasa for discussing the importance of Internet Safety with our S-E Middle School students the morning of January 31.

Alexa is an Investigative Specialist for the New York State Division of Criminal Services. She delivered a powerful, engaging and informative presentation at the S-E Middle School/High School Auditorium, reminding our kids to think hard before sharing anything online.

The New York State Missing Persons Clearinghouse at DCJS offers free presentations designed to help children learn the fundamentals of online safety. The 40-minute presentations teach safe and responsible practices and encourage students to keep their parents and teachers informed about what they are doing online. This includes all forms of social media, such as Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

For more information, email the NYS Missing Persons Clearinghouse at [email protected] or call 1-800-346-3543 (Option 1).
