The 70th annual Sherburne Pageant of Bands starts today, May 30, with Small Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble performances at Sherburne-Earlville High School.
Both start at 4:20 p.m. today, with Small Ensemble at the Sherburne-Earlville Middle School/High School Auditorium and Jazz Ensemble in the Sherburne-Earlville High School Band Room.
The SEHS Band Room also will host Small and Jazz Ensemble performances starting at 4 p.m. Friday, May 31.
Concert Band competition begins with Middle School/Junior High performances at 8:40 a.m. Saturday, June 1, in the Sherburne-Earlville Elementary School Band Room. Concert Band events for Classes AA/A (MS/HS Auditorium), Class B (SEHS Cafeteria), Class C (SEHS Band Room) and Class D (SEMS Gymnasium) are scheduled to start at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Sherburne-Earlville’s Elementary, Alumni and High School bands will kick off the annual Sherburne Pageant of Bands Parade at 1 p.m. Saturday. Bands from 40 participating schools will march down Main Street in Sherburne before meeting at Marauder Stadium for the Awards Ceremony.
Sponsored by the Sherburne Fire Department, the Sherburne Pageant of Bands is the oldest pageant of bands in New York state and typically draws more than 20,000 people to this village of fewer than 1,400 residents.
The Sherburne Pageant of Bands is free and open to the public. Parking and concessions are available near the high school.
