In-person learning plan for October

Students in school (9/2020)Dear Parents and Caregivers:
 
The support, encouragement, and partnership the district is receiving through the reopening process is appreciated. Positive COVID-19 test cases in Chenango and Madison counties are 0.9% and 1.4% respectively. Low positive test cases regionally, adherence to proper hand hygiene, wearing face coverings, and following the district’s reopening plan have enabled the district to begin the process of transitioning from a blended learning model to an in-person learning model.  
 
The district will begin the process of bringing students back for in-person learning. This process is for students participating in the blended learning model and will commence the week of October 5. Please note that the district’s fully virtual Monday will remain in place for the first semester. A determination will be made on fully virtual Mondays in January in advance of the start of the second semester, which begins February 1, 2021.
 
The phase in process for in-person learning is as follows:
 
  1. Tuesday, October 13 – Friday, October 16, 2020 for grade levels UPK-2

  2. Tuesday, October 20 – Friday, October 25, 2020 for grade levels 3-5, which means grade levels UPK-5 attend in-person

  3. Tuesday, October 27 – Friday, October 30, 2020 for grade levels 6-8, which means grade levels UPK-8 attend in-person

  4. Tuesday, November 3 – Friday, November 6, 2020 for grade levels 9-12, which means grade levels UPK-12 attend in-person
 
Please note students participating in the fully virtual learning model may remain fully virtual. 
 
Also, conference days scheduled for Friday, October 9 and Friday March 5 will now be full days of school. As the district continues to monitor and assess our reopening, the conference days will be utilized at a future date (TBD).
