The artificial turf field has been successfully installed at our stadium, but there’s still work to do before it’s safe for our student-athletes and fans to enjoy.
On Monday, September 23, Schoolhouse Construction Services provided the following list of work items that must be completed before Sherburne-Earlville CSD’s stadium can be used for athletic competitions and other events. This list includes the following installations:
- Fences, including Fence Posts
- Field Wiring
- Flagpole
- Goal Post Pads
- Netting and Remaining Field Accessories
- Railing near shot put and discus area
- Scoreboard, including Trenching and Power
- Sod around shot put and discus areas
- Surrounding Vegetation
Stadium renovations also include a new discus cage, the removal of temporary fencing, track striping and final touch-ups, minor restoration to lawn areas, demobilization, and general cleanup.
Schoolhouse Construction Services said the stadium likely would reach the phase of substantial completion this fall. Substantial completion essentially means a project is ready for its intended use, even though minor work may still be required for total completion. A specific date to reopen the stadium for play and public gatherings will be determined after substantial completion is achieved.
Upgrades/improvements to our stadium are part of SECSD’s Capital Project, a $29 million project with no additional tax impact that voters approved by more than a 2-to-1 margin in December 2022.
Construction Activity Reports outlining the monthly progress made by Schoolhouse Construction Services (overall project), Clark Companies (stadium turf/renovations), Ashley McGraw (architects), and The LA Group (landscape architecture and engineering) during SECSD’s Capital Project are available on our website at

“This has been a true community effort,” SECSD Superintendent Robert Berson said. “The stadium is something for the entire community to celebrate as it literally will bring us all together.”
