We have an accredited CTE program!

The New York State Education Department recently approved our Carpentry and Building Construction Program as an accredited CTE program!

Sherburne-Earlville High School Principal Jolene Emhof was instrumental in finalizing the accreditation process, which puts our Carpentry and Building Construction Program on the same level as CTE programs offered by DCMO BOCES. Program leader Steven Davis and Technology teacher Scott Bugbee assisted in the process, along with many others.

"In football terms, we were driving with 30 yards to go and we handed the ball off to Ms. Emhof," Bugbee said. "She took it the rest of the way and we scored big!"

In late October, Emhof emailed the SEHS staff to praise everyone who helped the program attain NYSED approval.

"I want to share my heartfelt thanks with all the teachers, administrators, office staff, and BOCES work-based learning instructors who assisted me with putting this application together," she wrote. "This was a true team effort and I sincerely appreciate every one of you!"

Davis and his students have been working on a new pole barn by the Chobani Greenhouse and Class of 2019 Sugarhouse since the beginning of the new school year. After completion, the pole barn will be used as a work/storage space for students in our Carpentry and Building Construction Program. Visit our Facebook page to see pics of the progress!
