Communication made simple

Four years ago, a collaborative effort between our teacher and administrator associations created a “Lines of Communication” framework and developed a decision-making matrix, both of which were adopted by our Board of Education.

These guiding principles are posted on our website's Administration page, and we also have shared this information on our Facebook page in an effort to inform parents, community members, faculty, staff and students of best practices when looking to improve communication.

We hope these slides help you understand our decision-making processes and clarify the order of our communication chains – i.e. who you should reach out to first, second, third, etc. – as we continue to strive for effective two-way communication at every level.

While face-to-face communication is preferred, stakeholders also can call in or email concerns to the first contacts in each chain. Following the proper order in any communication chain is essential as bypassing levels often complicates matters and extends the timeline for resolution. Therefore, concerns presented out of sequence will be sent back to the first bypassed level for resolution and, if necessary, proceed in proper chain order.

SECSD also has formed a committee to choose a new App to help improve communication with all stakeholders (AKA everyone in our #SEFamily). More information on the new App is forthcoming.
